Joe Zatylny works for the Government of Alberta as an Assistant Deputy Minister and Deputy Managing Director of the Alberta Emergency Management Agency, under the ministry of Public Safety Emergency Services.

He possesses over 30 years of experience in the Emergency Services and served in multiple capacities such as; career firefighter, rescue technician, emergency medical technician, search manager, public educator, business degree facilitator and senior executive fire service leader.

He served on multiple national and international committees/boards and recognized as an Executive Chief Fire Officer in the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs and a Chief Fire Officer by the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

He holds a wide variety of education and training certifications including a Bachelor’s Degree of Applied Business in Emergency Services, a Master’s Certificate in Municipal Leadership, Fire Officer Level 4 certification, and a certificate in Emergency Management.
