Assistant Deputy Chief Decker oversees the Medicine Hat Fire and Emergency Services Training, Logistics, and Community Safety branches, bringing more than two decades of fire service experience to his leadership role. He began his career in 2003 with the Swift Current Fire Department, where he built a strong operational foundation before joining Medicine Hat Fire and Emergency Services in 2012.
From 2015 to 2023, Garnet served as Chief Training Officer, playing a pivotal role in developing and strengthening the department’s operational readiness, professional standards, and training programs. His commitment to excellence, leadership development, and firefighter safety has had a lasting impact across the organization.
Since 2023, Assistant Deputy Chief Decker has continued to advance excellence in emergency services training, leadership, and community safety, supporting both internal operations and community-focused initiatives with professionalism, experience, and dedication.
